After months of complaining about rain- we have our California sun back. I opened the sun roof in my car, some windows in the house, and put on flip flops. This spring like weather may not last, February can still be quite winter like. In the meantime, I am going to enjoy the sun and stock up on springtime clothing. There was a run on shorts in the J. Crew store today. One warm day, and the summer clothes sells out. My Uggs have been placed in the back of my closet. I hope that I will not need them this week.
I wish that they made shoes in this size for Darrow. Skimbaco carries these shoes, and we had them at our last fund raising sale. Not only are the they cute, but they are soft and flexible.
My kids are all quite different. There is one thing that they share, a bizarre love for Converse sneakers. My husband wears them as well. Perhaps it is time for me to get a pair and join the Converse craze that has swept my home.
I have been admiring Tory Burch's designs for a while. The simple, yet elegant designs remind me of clothes that Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn might have worn. I have to at least own a pair of Tory Burch's flats--they are a must have item.(Guess I will return something to Nordstrom in exchange for those flats. ) I read a piece in the NYT magazine about Tory's glamorous, society lifestyle. She has the lifestyle to accompany the clothes. I can buy the clothes, but my lifestyle is quite different. Her glamorous life comes through in the clothes she designs. Good to feel glamorous every once in a while...
I swore I would never wear them, never buy them, why would I ? UGG boots were hip and trendy a few years ago, now they are just everywhere. They are ugly. They are not cheap. I could not understand why so many people are wearing them. I am seeing them on seemingly normal women- not just the I try to hard, my pants are too low, top too tight mid life crisis moms. A Mom in Beck's class swears that they are the most comfortable shoes ever. I need something warm to wear to school drop offs with my old sweats. I used to throw on my trusty flip flops, but flip flops and frost do not mix. So what is a Mom to do.( I do not wear sneakers unless I am exercising, so unless I am trying to fool people, I should not be wearing sneakers. ) I decided that the next best thing to driving in my slippers, would be a pair of UGGs. The damn shoes were sold out everywhere. After alot of searching, I found a pair on amazon. They arrived today, and wow, those are comfy. I may wear them to bed. Now Darrow wants a pair too.
Kids do not drive, nor do they need expensive driving shoes. I do not write a shoe blog, yet that has not stopped me from posting about shoes. While walking through Chatham, I saw the cutest infant driving shoes- but they cost $68.00.( Sorry little niece, no shoes for you. ) I did find toddler and kid sizes, for a mere $61.00 online. I am tempted to buy these for my daughter- but my husband reads this, so I can not lie and say that they only cost $19.99. Thats the problem with blogging.
My four and a half year old son just learned how to tie his shoes. This morning, as he was giving me a proud demonstration of his new skill, I noticed how cute his little shoes were. Not only are these Converse cute, but they are cool enough for my older kids and husband to wear as well. The whole family can wear their Converse together: my theatre son, my skater son, my fashionista daughter, and my husband. I need a new pair. Maybe we can all wear matching shoes for our holiday card... they come in all sizes and are available just about everywhere.
These shoes caught my eye on a stroll through town. (The Shoe Salon,Chatham, Ma. ) Kate Spade classic flats that go with anything from jeans to black tie-- and red patent leather ballerina flats from SF/ NY. ( I hear that red is big this fall. ) I had to stop myself from trying them on. I am sure that I can find them back at home in Palo Alto for a better price. Both pairs need to find their way to my closet.
