Julian and I went in to SF to have lunch with Meredith, and baby Luca. Meredith and family leave this Monday for two years in Swaziland. I am trying to spend as much time with my sister as possible with my four kids, and her two, and two husbands that are out of town. We decided that today was a good day to spend together.
Our plan was to have lunch at The Ferry Building, as I could not get reservations at Slanted Door. Taking the food to go, and eating by the Bay seemed like a great option. Of course, we forgot that Tuesday is the big farmers market, and there was no where to park. So, we decided to head downtown, go to MOMA and see the Kahlo exhibit, and have lunch there. Once again, we forgot that the first Tuesday of the month is free at the museum. There were lines around the block. (Luckily, I have seen the exhibit. ) So much for "Plan B." We ended up having a very nice, relaxing lunch next door at XYZ. After lunch, we strolled through a very cold Union Square. Our one cool find was the new CB2 store. We were enjoying shopping until a crazy guy came in and yelled, "This is a stick up, everyone down on the floor". I just stood there. Then he yelled, "I am Jesse James, this is a stick up.." At this point we all ignored him. Julian and decided to hop the train back to the suburbs...
Next time you plan a trip to SF, pay attention to what day it is!

I was in the Gap in San Francisco today, and found Product Red for kids. There was a great assortment of shirts, sweat shirts and, tank tops for babies and kids up to a size 12. Julian and Noah loved the styles, it is rare to find a style that they both agree upon. I picked up shirts for all of the kids, and we decided that they would wear these for our annual family photo on Cape Cod. According to the sales girl at Gap, these items will only be featured in select stores. There are a few choices online as well.
I am thrilled to be part of a new blog. Two of my friends from the Silicon Valley Moms Blog have just launched a new blog, S.F. Bay Style. I am honored to be part of this new blog. S.F. Bay Style covers local fashion and social events, as well as all the latest fashion, travel, dining, and shopping experiences in the area. I look forward to do doing my share of "research" for this new blog. Check it out, and let me know if you hear of any events that you think we should post about.
I am planning to go into San Francisco tomorrow. I want to take my sister out for a nice lunch, and even made reservations at Zuni Cafe. I want to use some of the many gift cards that I received for my birthday, BUT there is an anti- war protest . The protest route is my shopping and eating route. It is clearly not the day to go in for a day of enjoying S.F., or is it ? I support the protesters, and want to bring our troops home as soon as possible. San Francisco is known for being a liberal, out spoken place...but when free speech interferes with my shopping, I am a conflicted woman. I have canceled our lunch plans, but am undecided about heading into the city. Maybe I should join the protest, and just stop at Anthropolgie along the way...
