Started the day with my baguette and coffee. David packed up. Today is our last day in Paris.
Here are a few shots from today's activities.
Can you believe I found a frozen yogurt place in the Marais in Paris -- they're everywhere.
After all that walking and art, we were starving, so we went to Lenny Kravitz's favorite falafel house in Paris.
We made it to Paris after a quick but messy train ride (David managed to spill balsamic vinaigrette all over my ballet flats, and it then soaked my right foot. This has been a tough trip for my shoes. ) I love Paris, but it is cold here as well. I am hoping that the days get warmer, I am tired of having cold feet.
I am burning a L'occitane Green Tea candle right now. Not only does the smell relax me, it reminds me of the soaps from my favorite little hotel in Paris, The Hotel Therese. Now that I am not able to go to Paris this weekend, everything is reminding me of Paris. The trip was just not meant to be. Between the weather there, my hectic schedule with the kids here, and my sister's schedule, the trip did not seem even worth attempting. For six days of babysitting coverage, I would have only had four days to enjoy Paris. (Hey, that seems like enough time now. ) I regret my decision not to go, but know I will regret going even more. Our holiday schedule is nuts, I am useless with jet lag. So I will whine, I will feel sorry for myself, and search for all things French over the next week. We will have baguettes and jam for breakfast, dress well, have French wines-- what else can I do to fulfill my need for all things Parisian ?
David is busy in the kitchen creating Thanksgiving memories, and squash soup as I read blogs. Not just any blogs, but blogs about Paris. (I have also been checking the weather, which I find frightening. ) I really enjoyed reading a collective blog, called The Paris Blog. Ever since I co-founded a collaborative blog, I take particular interest in other group efforts. I hope that some of these bloggers will be at Les Blogs. In the meantime I am searching for any tips to get the most out of my four days in Paris. I already have some favorite shops, and museums to visit. If you have any tips, let me know. I guess I should partake in this family moment. David and the kids are now making pumpkin tofu cheesecake as I hide behind this screen. Bad Mommy.
I saw soooo many great shoes in Paris....but they were all quite pricey. So I returned to Gigi for reasonably priced shoes. I bought a great pair of green driving shoes last year, and was thrilled to see that they still carried them, in a wide variety of colors. At only 59 Euros, these driving shoes will be a great addition to my fall wardrobe. Gigi Shoes is located at 28, rue Tronchet and 87, rue Saint Lazare, Paris.
I miss Paris already. I am missing the long walks through my favorite city...even with my painful, swollen feet on the cobblestone paths. (Ok, aching swollen feet can not be compared to dealing with four kids--it is easier to limp than remember how to parent..) David and I managed to see many sights in a short amount of time. One common theme of the photos seems to be me sitting and resting...resting those aching feet.
