Local Food Guide

I actually picked up a useful guide at Whole Foods today. "The buy fresh, buy local guide", to food. Of course, this is another food related post. There is a great list of farms, farmers markets and of the restaurants that buy local produce. (I was surprised how few places there were here on the Peninsula w/ local produce. Have many more options in S.F. ) I found out about another local farmers market on Thursday that I will check out in addition to our Sunday market.

I can not cook, so I brought some wine to a good bye BBQ tonight. I am sad to say good bye to a great family. They are leaving Stanford for a position at Harvard. Why is it that I always bond with folks right before they move!

Eating Our Way Through New York

Aside from the great museums, and Broadway shows, my family is enjoying the many food choices we have in N.Y.C. This is just some of what we enjoyed today:

Lunch at Virgil's BBQ in Times Square- a very kid friendly BBQ joint

Snacks at Bouchon in the Time Warner Center

Dinner at S'MAC - great food, careful about our allergies, we may go back!

Sorbet and Gelato at what may be the best Gelato place in the city, Grom. The sorbet is dairy free.

We plan to visit every cupcake place that we can. So far the kids have has cupcakes at Crumbs. Tomorrow they will try the famed Magnolia, and I am looking forward to Babycakes,for some vegan treats.

We will be having lunch in SOHO with my sister in law, and will have to plan a pre-show dinner.

Do you have any N.Y.C. places we should not miss ?

After our trip to the museum, we stopped by Sweet. The kids enjoyed the cupcakes- I did not get to try them, as there were no dairy free cupcakes. We may have to go back...
