Beckett wants to celebrate earth day. It is cold, and I am lazy, so this is what we will do :
Go out to JZ Cool Eatery- a local, organic restaurant
Buy some plants
Think about how we can make a difference
Read lots of eco blogs tonight
Go out an buy a hybrid- don't worry David, that is a joke!

Not matter how trendy he may be, my kids can not get enough of Julius, the Paul Frank monkey. Beckett is a collector off all things Paul Frank. We recently bought a back pack and lunch box with Julius on it for his first day of kindergarten. All of my kids will wear Paul Frank clothes- I can not say that about any other designs.Last night while in town, the kids found a shop (Jackie's in Chatham) that sold "monkey shirts", as Beckett calls them, and various monkey accessories.
(here is where I would insert cute photo of kids in matching monkey shirts, if I had taken one.) I came upon this contest on Black Wagon. Next rainy day here on the Cape, I will have my kids try to design their own Paul Frank shirt.
You can just never have enough monkey shirts now, can you !
While on the beach yesterday, Beckett said, "Every day is a family day on vacation. " Beckett calls weekends family days. Vacation is like on big weekend . Kids seem to just enjoy being together, no matter what they are doing. That is one of the main reasons we spend so much time just relaxing on the Cape.
Darrow, Beckett and I have had quite a nice weekend.Sometimes it is nice to spend time with half of your family. They did not fight at all, and played together all weekend. We spent most of the day at the beach today. They built sand villages, sand cakes, and buried one another. We had dinner out, with a quick trip to the candy store. It really is amazing how much easier two kids are to manage than four !
David is in the Berkshires at a wedding with Julian and Noah. I have stayed behind on the Cape with Darrow and Beckett. I have to admit, I am a bit worried about being alone on vacation with these two. However, today was a lot of fun.
We started the day at the Eldredge public library story hour. The library is beautiful, and the story hour was filled with songs, games and crafts in addition to stories about boats. I now have a Chatham library card as a summer resident.
Next stop was The Anytime Cafe for lunch. They had a vegan soup, and healthy food, what a treat.
The kids insisted that we get candy after lunch. So it was off to Candy Manor. I even let them eat it.
Darrow and Beckett passed Crocs on the porch of The Children's Shop. Crocs mean jibbitz. So we had to go in. We found a Paul Frank lunch box and back pack for Beckett, and of course jibbitz.
The weather warmed up, so we spent a few hours in the late afternoon at the beach. Now we are relaxing in a much quieter than usual house. We have library books to read, and organic pizza to cook. I am looking forward to a calm night at home. I wonder what we will do tomorrow...hope it is a beach day !
We have had a few rainy days here on the Cape. This was just a perfect excuse for Beck to sport his new Black Dog raincoat. I know that Black Dog is touristy, but it is well made and very cute on the kids. The designs are classic, and the Black Dog never goes out of style.
We had a wonderful Fourth, swimming with friends and enjoying gourmet BBQ's. Hope that you enjoyed your day off.
Beckett has a collection of Paul Frank shirts. This one seemed to be in the spirit of the day. Not exactly a firework, but a monkey being shot from a canyon, close enough ! (He thought it was a firework .)
